In preparation, we have purchased a new tent--our current backpacking tent that we purchased about 15 years ago--weighs about 9 pounds! Although we have camped in our beautiful sweet tent in mulitple countries (including USA, Europe, Iceland, New Zealand, etc.)--it's time for a new lighter tent (please don't tell our older tent--it holds great sentamental value :-)
We found a great tent that weighs ONLY 2 pounds...TWO POUNDS!!! Wow--technology has come a long way!!
We are also starting to do some long-distance hikes...not too easy in Florida and we certainly don't have much of a challenge when it comes to elevation changes. But--we will do what we can.
I'll be reporting our preparation progress--as well as ideas of gear, etc.
